The ISD Council held an audience meeting with Dave Laksono (Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives) to further discuss broadcasting regulations in the digital era. This draft law (RUU) is a response to changes in the broadcasting, communications, and telecommunications sectors, which have a direct impact on internet-based, digital, and other broadcasting models and systems not currently covered by Law 32/2002. Based on this meeting, it was decided that broadcasting regulatory policies in the digital era would be considered, including separating policies for traditional broadcasting and digital streaming platforms. In response, the ISD Council will submit several recommendations containing input regarding the discourse on revising the Broadcasting Law and how to regulate the digital realm, particularly Online Curated Content, to the the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I team. Thus, this policy is expected to further encourage Indonesia in anticipating the increase in on-demand digital services and support its aspirations to become a major player in the creative economy in Southeast Asia.
