Devi Ariyani (Executive Director of ISD) was one of the panelists in the T20 Indonesia Summit Plenary Session 3 on Rethinking Social Well-being in Digital Society, held in Bali. Devi conveyed about the importance of creating more winners by closing the gap in digital skills. The different levels of skills may due to the low adoption of digital technology and familiarity in using of digital tools. Therefore, a close collaboration between government, industry, and education is needed to create more winners in the face of competition with new technologies in the future. Furthermore, Devi emphasized about the opportunities of digital transformation for the services sector particularly the informal sector in Indonesia. ISD recent study found that 67% of informal micro and small businesses can now level up to formalize their business and increase their revenue through digital technology transformation. Other speakers in attendance including: Paul Twomey (Initiative Director, Digital Governance at The New Institute), Dr. Asep Suryahadi (Senior Research Fellow at the SMERU Research Institute Jakarta), Prof Wing Thye Woo (Professor of Economics at University of California in Davis, Vice President for Asia at UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network), and Prof Dr. Dennis Snower (Founder and President of the Global Solutions Initiative, also Senior Professor of Macroeconomics and Sustainability at the Hertie School Berlin).
