Syarif has extensive working experience in public policy and government relations with an economic research background. Educated in Economics Policy from Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University, the Netherlands and Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, Syarif previously worked as an economic specialist and KP3EI program (Committee of Acceleration and Expansion for Indonesia Economic Development), under the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Republic of Indonesia. He has done several economic research, as both research leader and member, funded by various institutions such as International Labor Organization, Astra Indonesia, Bappenas, Article 33, BPDP KS, and BNP2TKI. He also actively writes and publish Op-Ed article for several Indonesia newspapers, such as Kompas, Bisnis Indonesia, Investor Daily, and detik.com.
